SVP Alan Dark exits Rogers Sports & Media

He joined the company as VP of national sales in 2014.

Alan Dark has parted ways with Rogers Sports & Media after more than 10 years with the company. He will stay on until the end of June, a source confirms.

Dark joined Rogers Sports & Media as VP of national sales in 2014, leaving behind his previous position as general manager of the CBC Revenue Group, a role he had held since 2012. He assumed the position at the network when Jack Tomik left CBC Revenue Group and moved to Rogers Sports & Media.

For the past four years, Dark has been leading Rogers Sports & Media’s revenue team in a senior executive role as SVP of revenue.

As VP of national sales, Dark was responsible for implementing a go-to-market strategy for the company’s One Call sales structure, driving multi-platform sales across its brands. He also set the strategic direction for the national agency sales teams at the company.

During his tenure, Dark helped spearhead several projects that bolstered Rogers Sports & Media’s growth and visibility. One of his most notable contributions was overseeing the re-development of the OOH assets at the Rogers Sports & Media Tower in Sankofa Square (previously known as Yonge-Dundas Square) in partnership with OOH media company Branded Cities.

Under Dark’s leadership, the revamped tower incorporated modern design elements and enhanced broadcasting capabilities, with Branded Cities also installing a 34-foot by 90-foot digital screen, which offers 10-second spots on a three-minute loop. Being added to Branded Cities’ Sankofa Square network, displays on Rogers Tower are able to be part of dynamic digital capabilities offered throughout the square, such as syncing campaigns in real time.

The deal added more than 3,000 square feet of digital signage to Branded Cities’ portfolio, joining 50,000 square feet of media space it already offers in Sankofa Square, which offers one of the largest OOH audiences in the country.
