According to the latest AdEase report, McDonald’s dominated the advertising scene for the week of May 19 to 25, racking up 10,893 combined occurrences.
The QSR led the rankings in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec, and secured second place in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. The brand’s resurgence on the AdEase list followed a week-long absence, thanks to a promotional ad offering a snack size milkshake or sundae for $2 plus tax, encouraging app usage. The restaurant had topped the list in early May with its “McHappy Day” campaign supporting families with sick and injured children.
Meanwhile, Toyota slipped from first to second place, but still saw an increase of 88 occurrences, bringing its total to 6,221. Subway took third spot with 6,036 total occurrences, although it was down from the previous week. IKEA climbed to fourth place with 5,100 combined occurrences, marking an uptick from last week, and Crave TV rounded out the top five with 4,689 occurrences, doubling its previous week’s total of 2,633.
On the category front, QSRs headed the list, with major cities featuring prominent chains like McDonald’s and Subway. Grocery stores and supermarkets were also widespread, with top numbers in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Montreal. Stores like Loblaws and Metro were household names. The automotive sector was another key category, with Hyundai and Toyota dealers leading the way.
